　　《北京生活》：您作为一个企业的管理层，作为一位女性的领导者，你认为应该具备哪些的素质和能力，才能在面对各种挑战和质疑的时候，成功化解，应付自如?

　　Beijing Live: As a female leader in a company, what do you think is necessary for taking on challenges?

　　黄美莲： 要有自信，有智慧，还要能够承受压力。不管遇到任何困难都要向前冲，不会很容易退缩、抱怨、放弃。有时要比男性更坚强，更能承受责任，勇往向前。其次要了解身边的人，领导、下属包括酒店的客人，只有先全面的了解他人，才能找到问题所在，从而成功化解。另外学习和创新能力是非常重要的，因为中国发展迅速，进步非常快，要想进步，就要努力走在时代的前沿，引领潮流才能把握方向。

　　Ng Bee Lian: Firstly, I think, confidence, wisdom and the ability of handling pressure are necessary. Do not always complaint without trying harder. Sometimes you need to be tougher than a man. You need to take the responsibility, and go fearlessly onward. Secondly, it is crucial to understand people around you, including your bosses, your subordinates, and the customers. Only when you understand other people adequately, you will be able to catch the key points and solve problems. Thirdly, the abilities of learning and innovation are important. Now China is developing fast, and you just need to catch up with the speed of development. Only thus that you will be able to lead instead of to follow.

　　Beijing Live: How to handle the balance of being a mother, a wife and a leader?

　　黄美莲： 我觉得一个成功的女人并不是用她得到多高的薪水来衡量，一个女人，家庭对她来说非常的重要，我非常感谢我的家人。我的丈夫对我的支持，儿子对我的鼓励，这是我能够前进的原动力，由于长年出差在外，丈夫除了忙于自己的生意之外，更要额外的担负起照顾家人的责任，为此我非常感激他，每次回家的时候，我绝对不会把工作上的事情和情绪带回去，因为我回到家，我就是一个妻子，一位母亲，此时的我不再是领导而是一位贤妻良母，让我和我的家人都能够很享受一家人团聚的感觉!

　　Ng Bee Lian: I think the success of a woman is not measured by her salary but by her family. I am very grateful to my family. The supports from my husband, the encouragement from my son, are the motives for me to go forward. Because I travel a lot, my husband has to take care of the family when he is already busy with his own business. This has helped me a lot. Every time I go home, I never take the job home. When I go back home, I am so clear that I am a wife, a mother but not a boss at home, and just enjoy the happiness of staying with my family.

　　《北京生活》：正如您所说，现在是个需要创新的时代，酒店产业同质化现象的越发严重，是否是酒店行业的一个隐忧?您是如何来看待这个问题的?作为北京辉盛庭的总经理，您又是如何来避免同质化的呢?

　　Beijing Live: Just as you mentioned, this is an era that requires innovation. Homogenization now has come to the front in the hotel industry, do you think it will be a worry? What do you think about this problem, and how will you do to prevent this homogenization happen to Fraser?

　　黄美莲： 在当今不断变化的，快节奏的商业环境，快速而有效地创新是我们的竞争优势。 它改变了我们的思维方式，使可以我们更深入，更全面的思考问题。

　　Ng Bee Lian: In today’s ever-changing, fast-moving business environment, innovating quickly and effectively is an advantage for achieving competitive advantage. It changes the way bosses think, giving us a deeper and more comprehensive roadmap for executing change.

　　As GM of Fraser, we look into how innovation can be promoted within the organization and how it can be measured and linked with the performance of the organization.
